Nutational Tickle Liposuction

Nutational Liposuction (“Tickle Lipo”) is the cutting edge of liposuction technology.  Dr. Allen has worked with every form of liposuction technology and she has chosen Tickle Lipo to be her technology of choice as she has found it to be the most effective and versatile tool.  Nutational technology allows Dr. Allen to perform the most advanced liposuction and fat transfer surgeries.  The vibratory effects of the device result in a blocking of pain receptors, so many patients only have a sensation they perceive as tickling. This vibration also attributes to a much better extraction of the adipose tissue to be used in fat grafting procedures; due to the gentle nature of the nutational motion, larger clusters of adipocytes are separated without damaging individual cells. This allows for smoother reinjection and a better disbursement of regenerative cells for an extremely high graft “take” without any washing steps or use of enzymes.

Tickle Lipo is gentle enough that it can be used to precisely sculpt fine areas such as the neck, jowls and arms.  Yet it provides enough power to dramatically change large trouble areas such as the abdomen, flanks or thighs in one treatment. From minor touch-ups to major transformations Tickle Lipo provides excellent results. Here’s what you can expect from Nutational Liposuction (“Tickle Lipo”):

  • Realistic curves and more muscle definition, even in hard-to-fix areas
  • Easy removal of large quantities of fat
  • Precise sculpting of delicate areas of the body
  • Less pain and bruising in the post-op period
  • A minimally invasive procedure which can be performed in a comfortable clinical setting
  • Quicker recovery
  • Smooth and tight results
  • Immediately visible results with final shape in about 3 months

Dr. Allen uses Tickle Lipo because it gives her a tool to provide precise and dramatic results for her patients whereas traditional liposuction can result in lumpy or uneven areas.

How Does Tickle Lipo compare to other Liposuction Methods?

There are many options when it comes to body contouring.  Dr. Allen has spent time working with all of them and has selected Tickle Lipo as the best tool to provide the most precise and dramatic results for her patients.

To help you understand the basics of the different treatments available they are compared here:

Tickle Lipo

This device has offered phenomenal results because of its unique, 3 dimensional “nutational” motion of the cannula. The Tickle Lipo cannula motion “sweeps” the adipose tissue instead of the 2 dimensional “tunneling” motion of all the other liposuction technologies. Not only does this result in a much smoother skin surface look and feel, more of the connective tissues are preserved and the patient recovers in a far shorter period of time, with skin retraction equal to or better than laser or ultrasound technologies

Pro: Selectively targets only the fat tissue, which encourages smooth, predictable results with fast recovery.  Fat remains viable for fat transfer surgeries.

Con: As a newer technology Nutational Liposuction (“Tickle Lipo”) is still being adopted by surgeons.

Laser Assisted Liposuction/Laser Lipo

They are many trade names in this segment of the industry. Among them, they are sold as SmartLipo™, CoolLipo™, SlimLipo™, AccuSculpt™ and LipoLite™.  All of these forms of laser assisted liposuction use heat (not ultrasound) energy to melt fat and cauterize surrounding blood vessels.  The melted tissue is then removed with a traditional suction cannula.

Pros: Fat is destroyed and vessels are cauterized prior to removal, so recovery is faster than with traditional liposuction

Cons: This may be best for only small pockets of fat and with the use of heat, thermal injury can occur to the surrounding tissue resulting in burns. Tunneling can result in surface irregularities. Fat is destroyed so it cannot be used for fat transfer.

Suction-Assisted Liposuction (Traditional Liposuction)

In this form of liposuction a larger cannula (suction probe) is inserted through an incision.  The physician pushes and pulls the cannula through the fat layer to break up the fat.  The cannula is connected to a suction pump that pulls the fat out of the body.

Pros: Most common form of liposuction performed, is an older method of doing liposuction so more physicians are familiar with it.  It does not require newer and sometimes more expensive technology.

Cons: Is destructive to tissue and tears out surrounding vessels, nerve endings and collagen. This can lead to a “lumpy, bumpy” results and longer recovery times.

Power-Assisted Liposuction

This is similar to suction-assisted liposuction, except that it is performed using a specialized cannula that has mechanized movements that help to physically break up the fat tissue.

Pros: This is the fastest form of liposuction

Cons: Is destructive to tissue and tears out surrounding vessels, nerve endings, and collagen leading to bumpy results and extended recovery times.
