Sculptra

Scultpra Aesthetic is a unique FDA-approved dermal filler we offer at Portica. Sculptra is an injectable form of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA is a biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body. As the PLLA in the Sculptra is slowly absorbed, it stimulates the production of collagen in the deep layers of the skin. This unique mechanism of Sculptra makes it a particularly useful treatment option for some specific anti-aging, cosmetic indications.

For individuals who are experiencing laxity in their facial skin or a loss in facial volume, Sculptra is an excellent choice. Sculptra provides improvement in skin texture. Tightness occurs over the months after injection and offers a natural, subtle, noticeable improvement.

Sculptra is a collagen stimulator. At Portica, we inject it into the deep skin layer, called the deep dermis. In this area, Sculptra works to stimulate collagen production and helps revitalize the skin’s inner structure and volume. As the Sculptra PLLA particles are slowly absorbed, the skin is stimulated to produce more collagen. Over time, the skin appears healthier with less wrinkling and a more youthful volume.

We often recommend that Sculptra injections are done in a series. Typically three injection sessions of Sculptra are done over the course of three to four months. Results appear gradually over several months and final results appear very natural. Patients look healthy and refreshed but their general look is not changed. The results of Scupltra typically last two to three years.

Sculptra is a great option to help treat skin laxity in the mid and lower face. It is also helpful to treat patient with facial volume loss. It often takes several treatment sessions to get the desired effect. The results of Sculptra are noticeable in a subtle, natural appearance.

Sculptra can also be useful for injections in other areas besides the face. Sculptra can be used to smooth out skin dimpling from cellulite. It is injected into the deep layer of skin in the indented area and, over a few months, the dimpled area smooths out. When done with an optimal amount of Sculptra, results last two to three years.
